Here are two lessons I used during my student teaching experience at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Unit: Basketball
Class Size: 30
Grade: 9
Date: 5/21/01

Facilities needed: Gym, basketball hoops

Student Performance Objectives:
1. Students will continue to improve their basic fundamentals involved with dribbling, passing, and shooting.
2. Students will continue to work as a team and socially interact in a positive manner.
3. Students will identify rule violations when they occur.

Safety Concerns: Physical contact, flying or rolling balls

Adaptions needed: Wheelchair accessable

Equipment needed: 15 basketballs

Lesson schedule:

10 minutes: Dress
5 minutes: Attendance
10 minutes: Warm up; 4 minute job, 6 minute stretch
5 minutes: Explanation of todays activities
20 minutes: Games designed to improve fundamentals, group dribbling, passing, and shooting; relay races
10 minutes: Dress



Unit: Swimming
Class Size: 25
Grade: 11
Date: 5/21/01

Facilities Needed: Pool

Student Performance Objectives:
1. Students will increase endurance and stamina in the water
2. Students will continue to improve strokes and fluidity in the water
3. Students will understand the importance of lifelong activity and recognize swimming as a possibility.

Safety Concerns: Deep Water, Physical Contact

Adaptions: none

Equipment Needed: Beach Ball

Lesson Schedule:

10 minutes: Dress
5 minutes: Attendance
10 minutes: Warm up lap swim
5 minutes: Explanation of activity
20 minutes: Activity; beach ball water polo
10 minutes: Dress
